King Saddhatissa was an important ruler of the Anuradhapura Kingdom. He ruled Sri Lanka from 137 BCE to 119 BCE.
He was the younger brother of the great King Dutugemunu. After King Dutugemunu passed away, Saddhatissa became the king.
King Saddhatissa continued his brother’s work. He improved tanks, canals, and farming systems. These irrigation systems helped farmers grow more food.
He also protected Buddhism by repairing temples and stupas. One of the important places he developed was Dighavapi.
